Melony Opheim
Melony Opheim has lived in Mesa Arizona since 1997. She worked as a therapist while going to ASU for her Masters in Social Work. She founded The U-turn Foundation, a 10 bed therapeutic group home in 2003. The one home grew to two and eventually 3. In 2008, the foundation added outpatient therapy as well, seeing kids all over the Phoenix metro area. In the last 19+ years, she has been Executive Director as well as Clinical Director serving at any time 30 clients residentially, and 150-200 clients in the community. Melony has served on the Senate Committee hearing regarding juvenile sex offenders and registration and has been a member of ATSA (Association of Treatment of Sexual Abuse) for over 25 years. In the last 2 years, she has also served on the Executive Board of Freedom Prep Academy. Recently, Melony has started another LLC, MelO Consulting to offer help and training to other group homes based on her experience.
